NOUS Northwest was honored at the US Naval Order’s National Congress 2022 by receiving the annual CAPT Jan Armstrong Memorial Award recognizing commanderies with fifty or fewer companions. The NWT Commandery had also received this prestigious award in 2020 and 2021.
NWT’s Commander, CAPT Jim McGinnis, MSC, USN (Ret.) and shown in the photo below, accepted this award on behalf of the unit’s 39 companions while attending the Congress.

The award reads: “CAPT Jan Armstrong Memorial Award, Presented to Northwest Commandery, CAPT James A. McGinnis, MSC, USN (Ret.).
“In recognition of outstanding local effort and success achieved in one or more of the following: Membership Growth, Internal Communications, Annual Congress Support; and Local and/or National Commandery Initiatives. Presented this 21st day of October 2022.
“Bravo Zulu! Signed, (CAPT) Robert N. Whitkop, Commander General.”

Congratulations to CAPT McGinnis for his leadership during the past two years as well as to the entire Commandery for their outstanding support. Well done by all!
