IN THE NORTHWEST:
NOUS Northwest will hold a Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day dinner on 30 March at Arnie’s Restaurant in Mukilteo, WA. Each of the three states in the Northwest Commandery area have declared an annual day of recognition for Vietnam Veterans based on the following legislation:
Oregon – SENATE BILL 74
Washington – HB 1319
Idaho – HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 51
IN WASHINGTON DC:
In Washington DC, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is hosting an event at the Veterans Memorial on 29 March. This will be a “ceremonial presentation of bricks from the Hanoi Hilton. Bricks will be presented to the Medal of Honor Society, the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), and the National Park Service. The brick being given to NPS will become part of the collection of items left at The Wall and may eventually be included in the future Education Center at The Wall.”
Also, an exhibit is currently on display at the National Archives in Washington DC titled “Remembering Vietnam.” A brochure describing the exhibit as well as a quick reference guide can be accessed HERE. The exhibit runs through 6 January 2019.
